The Share Table

The Share Table is a new collaboration with the San Juan Extension Master Gardeners, San Juan County Health & Community Services, and Friday Harbor Food Bank. The Share Table aims to help Food Bank clients grow, prepare, and enjoy garden-grown produce. Master Gardeners provide plant education, a bilingual planting calendar, and vegetable starts like basil, mint, lettuces, kales, tomatoes, and peppers. Kristen Rezabek from the County Health Department offers samples and healthy, garden-based recipes. Sessions are held outside the Food Bank twice a month from April to October, with each session attracting 20-30 clients and distributing one flat (18) of vegetable starts, samples and recipes. Some clients have already reported successful harvests with their plant starts. This initiative fosters community connections through gardening and cooking. |
