Early Jersey Wakefield is an old English variety, first grown in the United States by Francis Brill of Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1840. A reliable favorite in US gardens for nearly 170 years, and still one of the best picks for a small early cabbage. Produces dense, elongated pointed seven inch heads, with a distinctly sweet flavor. Heads weigh two to three pounds, with a small core and good protective wrapper leaves.
