An Italian heirloom considered the most productive of all the sweet basils, on 18 – 24 inch, vigorous, bushy plants. Very large, crinkled and highly aromatic leaves that look like lettuce are more sweet than spicy, and not quite as sharp as other basils. The large leaves take some of the work out of making pesto or basil oil, and are excellent wrappers for grilled vegetables, fish, and appetizers.
