If you are new to Zoom, welcome!
To use Zoom for the Gardening Workshop Series:
Zoom tips
We’ve learned a few things from past Zoom sessions that we’d like to pass on to you. For all users, if you’re new to Zoom, or think you might have a problem, it is important to log on early (well before the meeting starts) so you have time to try these tips. We have limited ability to help during the webinar.
Troubleshooting
If the tips above don’t work:
To use Zoom for the Gardening Workshop Series:
- Create a free account. This short video from WSU will show you how. An account is required to help prevent fraudulent activity and to ensure your privacy.
- Download the Zoom Client for Meetings application. You may use your computer’s browser (Chrome, Safari, or Edge) for Zoom presentations on any device, but we’ve had more success downloading the application, and encourage you to do so, too.
Download Zoom here for your computer, or in the App Store for your phone or tablet. If you’d rather skip the download and use your browser, join the meeting well before the start, so that you have adequate time for the computer to install the program.

- Open the Zoom application before clicking the link to join the meeting. If you click the link first, you’ll be accessing the Series through your browser, which can be problematic.
- Be careful not to use your personal Zoom account password for the meeting password, which is different. This is one of the most common problems. You will be prompted for the passwords at different times.
- Use the same email address you used to register for the webinar.
Troubleshooting
- Update Zoom on your device, especially if you haven’t used Zoom in several months.
- If you’re using a browser, try a different browser. Chrome seems to work well.
- Enable cookies in your browser.
- Clear the browser cache and cookies.
If the tips above don’t work:
- Log out of Zoom, then close and restart your browser.
- Restart your device.
- Last resort: uninstall and then reinstall Zoom.
